Dentures can replace your missing teeth and reinstate your smile, if you have tooth loss due to decay, damage, or injury. They offer a natural-looking solution, enhancing your appearance and improving oral health. At Robichaux Family Dentistry in Los Angeles, we offer customized denture solutions to restore your oral functions and smile appearance.
What Are Dentures?
Dentures are removable prosthetic appliances that help replace missing teeth. These false teeth are generally made of acrylic plastic materials, and best imitate your natural ones. The denture base is usually composed of either acrylic resin or metal. The dentures are removable and are available either as complete or partial dentures, based on the number of teeth that need replacements.
Benefits of Dentures
Missing teeth can make the facial muscles sag, causing a person to look older than their actual age. With the help of dentures, you will appear young and dynamic. Just like your natural teeth, you will be able to enjoy your favorite foods and speak comfortably. Dentures will make you look and feel your best, so you can enjoy the confidence that comes with a beautiful working smile.
Types of Dentures
Whether you are missing a few or all of your natural teeth, at our office, we can create comfortable and natural-looking partial or dentures to re-establish your smile.
Complete dentures restore all the missing natural teeth in either the upper or lower mouth arch. These restorations are held in position by the jawbone's suction force.
Partial dentures pack the spaces left by lost or missing teeth and are secured to your natural teeth with metal clips called precision attachments. These restorations will suit patients who have lost just one or a few of their natural teeth.
Procedure for Dentures
Denture treatment begins with a comprehensive mouth evaluation to assess your current dental condition and suggest the best options for your individual needs. This may include a complete examination of your oral structures. For partial dentures, we may take X-rays to evaluate your teeth that are strong enough to support the appliance. If you need tooth extractions done, a healing period will be allowed before going ahead with the denture process.
When you are ready for the dentures, Dr. Jacob Robichaux will take impressions of your mouth to fabricate your customized dentures. We can tailor your dentures' size, shape, and color according to your requirements.
The construction of the traditional dentures generally takes between two to three weeks. When your dentures are ready, we will ensure the fit is perfect for you and, if necessary, make adjustments to make them as comfortable as possible.
